Mr. Greenfield said the next month will serve as a test of the strategy. "We'll have a sense if there is any pushback" from moviegoers, he said. Some movie-studio executives expressed concern that the price increases might be too much too soon. "The risk we run is that we will no longer be the value proposition that we as an industry have prided ourselves on," said a distribution executive at one major studio. Other studio executives agreed that the move was risky, but some, like Dan Fellman, president of domestic distribution for Time Warner Inc.'s Warner Bros., expressed support. "The exhibitors are trying to push the needle on ticket prices and see where it ends up," Mr. Fellman said. "So far charging a $3 or $4 premium has had no effect on consumers whatsoever, so I'm in favor of this experiment to raise prices even more. There may be additional revenue to earn here." Voting Question: I was fired for what seems to be an unfair reason?

This past weekend after working for over a year at regal cinemas 9 in new york, they are saying i am being terminated due to job abandonment because i did not notify them for two days off. however i did notify them and there was verbal consent from one manager. It is my belief that the true motives for terminating me is retaliation for two different incidents that had occured in the past two monthes that has affected the managers and staff directly. First off, in case you didn't know, there are 2 types of "redeem at the box office" tickets for Regal Cinemas, from what I know. The "VIP" tickets, are nothing what you think, "not valid during the first 12 days of "Selected" new release films..." so not quite VIP status here. The "Premium" ones, ARE allowed at all times yet both mention "Surcharge Fees apply on all IMAX, Large Format or 3-D Films..." I had to pay $5 on top of my "Premium" Regal Cinema Tickets to watch Avatar in 3-D IMAX. I think I would have saved $2-3 with just the regular 3-D. So after all this information, what is the difference? The screen DID NOT look as big as an IMAX film that I was use to seeing (I'm in San Diego and watching the documentaries at Reuben H. Fleet Science Center on their Dome IMAX is nothing short of amazing).  more

Resolved Question: Do they have the small lobby posters for "This Is It", the new Michael Jackson movie at your theater?

The new Michael Jackson movie, This Is It, opens on October 28!!! (I just bought my tickets for the opening night at my local theater for 12:00AM on 10/28) I'm soooo excited!!!!! Anyway, at your local theater, do you know if they have those small "promotional" give away posters in the lobby for the film "This Is It". I was wondering if they did, please let me know. I have been looking for this one and can not yet find it. Also, if you seen them, at what theater (ie. AMC, Regal Cinemas, National Amusements, etc.) Thank you!  more

Voting Question: what are the best movie theaters to go to?

The only movie theater i have ever really gone to was the galaxy theaters. i like how they have the latest projectors and sound systems and they usually keep their building really clean, but the sad thing is their not everywhere. i went to regal a while back to see "meet the spartans" and "punisher warzone". i went to this theater cus my dad won free passes for this place and i wanted to check regal out. The one i went to was very bad. the projectors were old, the picture quality looked as good as vhs, and most of the screens were small. i dont know if all regal cinemas are like this, but i dont want to risk wasting my time in a place that doesnt update their stuff. my question is what are some great movie theaters to go to and ones that i should look out for?  more
